Trip to Alberta

Beautiful Alberta

“How do you feel about flying to Alberta for the weekend? Sure, why not?”

Two nights, three days, 1500 kms and a giant check list of sights to be seen. That’s what I had planned for my sister and I over the Canada Day long weekend.

First on our list was Banff. Surrounded by forest, rivers and mountains towering over you in every direction, Banff is located directly inside the National Park and has hot springs, a gondola, water rafting and so much more.

Next up was to head to Lake Louise for afternoon tea at the Fairmont. This is the type of thing you see in a National Geographic magazine but can’t imagine ever seeing in real life. You can rent a canoe to get a close up view of the mesmerizing turquois water or hike around the base of the lake.

After enjoying the mountains, we headed to Calgary to check out the Calgary Tower, the Saddledome (where they were getting ready for the stampede) and the shops and markets downtown.

Our incredible adventure came to an end about 40 minutes East of Edmonton at Elk Island National Park. Here you can experience a great variety of wildlife and beautiful, picturesque lakes and walking paths. Although we definitely could have used another few days because there is so much to see here, it was a fun filled weekend that we won’t forget anytime soon!
